Cat Caretakers

We have openings for cat carers at the Petsmart in North Durham (near Costco) and at Petco Locations: Southpoint, South Square, and Eastgate.

IAR foster cats stay at our pet store partners for 1 to 2 weeks at a time in the hopes of being noticed and getting adopted. While they are there, they rely on a team of cat carers to tend to their needs.

There are two daily shifts at each store, one in the morning and one in the evening. Shifts usually take between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the number of cats. Daily tasks include scooping litter boxes and making sure the cats have fresh food, water, and lots of pets and playtime. When a cat returns to their foster home or (paws crossed) their furrever home, the cubby needs to be cleaned and sanitized for the next feline guest.

If you are interested in learning more or know you want to help, please reach out today to learn more and come shadow a shift! Volunteers can sign up for one or more regular shifts per week. We would also like to hear from community members who cannot commit to a regular shift but who could substitute when a regular volunteer is out of town or otherwise unavailable. Training will be given.
Helping our cats find their furrever home is a team effort, and we would love to have you join us! IAR is a volunteer-driven rescue, and we rely on wonderful

About Independent Animal Rescue

Location:

PO Box 14232, Durham, NC 27709, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to rescue and care for cats and dogs in need and reduce the suffering of unwanted animals through our adoption, spay/neuter, and community education programs. At IAR, we believe that the welfare of animals is paramount. We feel that we can alleviate problems associated with dog and cat overpopulation and abandonment using a 3-pronged approach: (1) Rescue and adoption of unwanted and abused animals; (2) funding and providing spay/neuter services; (3) education and outreach on animal welfare to our community.

Description

Independent Animal Rescue is a non-profit group in the Triangle region of North Carolina that works to provide homes for hundreds of unwanted cats and dogs each year. IAR is run primarily by committed individuals from the community who volunteer their time to help homeless animals and to keep our support programs functioning. We provide medical attention, including all vaccinations and spay/neuter, foster care, transportation, foster care, and adoption services.
