ORGANIZATION: CEED (Center for Environmental Education and Discovery)

Want to make a difference for a local non profit organization while spending time preserving and enjoying nature? We are looking for volunteers to come help on CEEDurday - the first Saturday of every month from 10am to 2pm at CEED. CEED is located in Brookhaven Hamlet within the historic Washington Lodge, where we are stewards to 70+ acres of land. Volunteering tasks and projects change with the seasons! Just show up and sign a waiver to participate. Minimum age required to volunteer is 10. Under 16 years old requires parent or guardian present with them. 16 and older can be signed in by parent or guardian.

This is held THE FIRST SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH ONLY. Volunteering dates for 2025 are:

February 1, 2025; March 1, 2025; April 5, 2025; May 3, 2025; June 7, 2025; July 5, 2025; August; 2, 2025; September 6, 2025; October 4, 2025; November 1, 2025; December 6, 2025

  • Give public purpose and functionality to 60+ acres of land entrusted to us by the Town of Brookhaven and Suffolk County, while working to restore and preserve this precious resource.
  • Restore and renovate the historic Washington Lodge, bringing it to life as a center of learning, art, and collaboration centered on a love and respect for nature.
  • Educate and inspire people of all ages to care about the environment and protect the fragile ecosystems of our local community, including our bays and oceans, as well as Long Island and the world at large.
