Looking for ways to support immigrant and low-income communities?
Our Health Center provides high quality care regardless of a patient’s immigration status and insurance or ability to pay. Help us create a supportive, inclusive space for our patients and help us eliminate barriers to healthcare access.
By answering patient questions, providing check-in assistance, and being a friendly aide as they navigate our facility, you will help them access vital healthcare and wellness services. If you would like to help bring equitable access to healthcare for all, apply to be a volunteer with AACI today!
Duties and responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors entering the lobby or waiting in line to check in at the front desk
- Answer questions regarding AACI’s programs and services
- Assist visitors in navigating AACI’s building and finding their destination
- Distribute and collect visitors’ badges
- Provide document translation and interpretation for non-English speaking patients as needed
- Communicate and coordinate with staff as necessary
- May provide instruction to patients on how to properly fill out Medi-Cal, Medicaid, and Medicare paperwork
Qualifications
- Punctual and maintains consistent attendance
- Effective customer service skills
- Ability to communicate well with people of diverse cultural, professional and experiential backgrounds
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion
- Bilingual in one of the following languages preferred but not required: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tagalog
- Must submit resume and complete virtual interview

Founded in 1973, AACI is one of the largest community-based organizations advocating for and serving the marginalized and vulnerable ethnic communities in Santa Clara County. Our many programs address the health and well-being of the individual and advances our belief in providing care that goes beyond just health, but also provides people a sense of hope and new possibilities. Current programs include behavioral and primary health services, substance abuse prevention and treatment, center for survivors of torture, shelter and services for domestic violence and human trafficking survivors, senior center, youth programs, and community advocacy.
