Weekend Adventures are exciting weekends away at camp for kids (ages 6 to 17) with intellectual disabilities. As a volunteer, you will be a kid’s assigned "buddy" for a weekend of fun and engaging activities! There are always staff around who are trained to handle any medical or behavioral changes, so you can simply focus on having fun with your campers as they enjoy activities such as ziplining, horseback riding, canoeing, s’mores, campfires, and so much more! You will be at camp from Friday-Sunday sleeping in a separate volunteer cabin.
While you and your buddy are having an awesome weekend, their families are given critical time to rest and recharge. This is truly a gift you are giving to the parents and will empower them in their lives and relationships.
We welcome groups or individuals, ages 16 and older and provide all the training you’ll need! Our staff are with you every step of the way, so no special needs experience is required. All you need is a willingness to serve these wonderful kids and their families!
Put simply-we focus on the details so that you can focus on the campers!

Description
Weekend Adventures are fun and exciting camping weekends for children (ages 6-17) with intellectual disabilities. Jill’s House nurses and staff tailor all of the exciting weekend activities to the interests and abilities of each camper to provide an engaging and safe camping experience they can’t get anywhere else! And local churches, schools, or social clubs supply volunteers to act as "buddies" to the campers to help them get the most out of all their weekend. Meanwhile, the campers’ families receive a weekend of respite to recharge, knowing their kids are in good hands.
Every aspect of the weekend is designed to provide the best camper experience possible. Dietary restrictions are accounted for, professional nurses are always on site, and all staff and volunteers are thoroughly trained and excited to spend time with these special kids.
