Want to feel inspired and reconnect with nature? Come get your hands dirty at one of Garden
School Foundation’s 10 school gardens in Metro Los Angeles! As a volunteer, you’ll help keep
our living classrooms edible and beautiful by weeding, mulching, planting, painting signs, saving
seeds, and more!! GSF will plan multiple special group projects tailored to your group’s size,
interests, and desired activity level. We provide all the necessary tools and training, and no
gardening experience is necessary to participate. We have sites located throughout the city, so we'll work together to find the right garden for your group.

About Garden School Foundation

Location:

2055 W 24th St, Los Angeles, CA 90018, US

Mission Statement

Garden School Foundation provides in-depth garden-based education to youth at Title I schools in Los Angeles, strengthening connections between food justice, environmental awareness, and community health. By using the full transformative potential of school gardens as teaching sites, we nurture a healthy and mindful generation of children that care for their bodies, their communities, and the earth. We currently serve seven Title I elementary schools, reaching over 3,000 students and their families each year.

Description

The Garden School Foundation offers a variety of volunteer opportunities from monthly Community Garden Days to open volunteer hours during school hours. Our garden beautification projects include weeding, planting, constructing raised beds, tending to the compost pile and maintaining the overall beauty of our natural space. There are also opportunities to assist with our Seed to Table Program.

Our foundation is more than happy to provide volunteering members of your organization with signatures for volunteer hours or school credit if needed.
