Position: Nonprofit Management Intern
Location: Remote/Hybrid (Flexible)
Commitment: Part-time (20-30 hours per week) / Full-time (as per academic credit requirements)

The African American Women Trucking Association (AAWTA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering African American women in the trucking industry through education, advocacy, workforce development, and wellness initiatives. Our mission is to create opportunities for professional growth, financial independence, and community impact in the transportation sector.
This internship provides a comprehensive introduction to nonprofit management, equipping participants with essential skills in fundraising, grant writing, program management, and organizational development. Interns will gain hands-on experience while actively contributing to AAWTA’s mission.
Internship OverviewAAWTA is seeking motivated individuals interested in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and strategic development. This 90-day internship will provide an immersive experience in nonprofit operations, program coordination, donor relations, and grant writing, allowing interns to develop a well-rounded skill set in nonprofit management.
Key Responsibilities- Grant Writing & Research: Assist in researching funding opportunities, drafting grant proposals, and submitting applications.
- Fundraising & Development: Support donor outreach, sponsorship engagement, and fundraising campaign coordination.
- Program Management: Help design, implement, and track community programs and initiatives.
- Event Planning: Assist in organizing AAWTA events, networking opportunities, and fundraising efforts.
- Marketing & Outreach: Contribute to social media, newsletters, and promotional materials to increase AAWTA’s visibility.
- Nonprofit Operations: Learn essential nonprofit administrative tasks, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Assist in building relationships with community partners, sponsors, and corporate donors.
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Business, Communications, Marketing, or related fields.
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
- Interest in nonprofit development, fundraising, and program coordination.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines.
- Passion for AAWTA’s mission and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Experience in event planning, fundraising, or grant writing is a plus (but not required).
- Real-World Nonprofit Experience: Gain hands-on skills in nonprofit management, fundraising, and grant writing.
