FAVE February 2025: Support Dog Adoptions!
ORGANIZATION: Ace of Hearts
Please visit the new page to apply.
FAVE February Event: Set up and support pet adoption event with Ace of Hearts
Why: Volunteers will aid the more than 70 dog foster families that help Ace of Hearts pull dogs from area shelters and get them to adoption events where they can find their people. Connecting canines and humans benefits the mental health of the dog and the human and can enhance their lives. The most immediate need is food for all of these dogs as well as cozy blankets to help them feel calm and secure.
Who: Ace of Hearts is a dog rescue foundation dedicated to rescuing dogs from various Los Angeles shelters and placing them in loving homes. The Ace of Hearts Foundation is in memory of "Ace", a wonderful American Bulldog who was rescued from death, and touched the lives of many! Ace of Hearts rescues all breeds and does not discriminate by breed.
What to Expect: Volunteers will choose from a virtual project making dog food at home according to the recipe provided by FAVE on behalf of Ace of Hearts OR the in-person event on Saturday, February 1st from 1-4 pm where volunteers will set up the event, make signs, engage potential adopters, help care for canines, and make dog blankets. The third option is to make dog food at home AND also attend the event!
Shift 1: Virtual-scheduled on your own time prior to February 1st, 2025
Volunteers will take the Ace of Hearts dog food recipe and make and package the food according to the provided recipe (click here for recipe). Arrangements must be made with FAVE program coordinator to drop off food at L.A. Works or bring food directly to the February 1st event.
Shift 2: 1 p.m. - 4 pm
Volunteers will help set up and then be assigned to help with dogs, communicate with potential adopters, make signs, collect and sort food, and make fleece dog blankets.
Shift 3: 1 p.m. - 4 pm with a commitment to also bring dog food
Volunteers will make dog food at home AND attend the in-person event on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

Mission Statement
We are a 501c-3 dog rescue foundation dedicated to rescuing dogs, the day they are to be euthanized, from various Los Angeles shelters and placing them in loving homes. We do NOT take dogs in ... we rescue only from shelters. The Ace of Hearts Foundation is in memory of "Ace", a wonderful American Bull dog who was rescued from death, and touched the lives of many! (Especially founder Kari Whitman!) We rescue all breeds...and don't discriminate against any!
Description
Hello!
Love dogs? Looking to help out and make some new friends along the way?
We need Standby Volunteers daily!
Emergency Volunteers/Stand By's
This may seem like the least helpful, but actually our stand-by's always save us & the dogs! We need you!
You give us the days and times you are available and we add you to a list. Then, if something comes up that day- you will be the first one we call. This helps us reach out to volunteers with availability that day instead of calling our entire volunteer list. If there is a day, half a day, or even a few hours you can volunteer to be placed on a "call in case of an emergency" list, let us know! This can be for many different tasks, and almost
always requires some driving. We try very hard to plan things in advance, but if there is a last minute opportunity to save a life, get a dog adopted, or a foster emergency, it helps to have a handful of people we reach out to first!
We are in desperate need of standby volunteers!
Can't help with this but still want to volunteer? We can always use extra hands:
-Emergency fosters
-Long term fosters
-Temp tests for dogs in shelters
-Transporters (taking dogs to appointments/park/foster)
-Event volunteers
-House check volunteers
