Encompassing more than three million acres and stretching across seven ranger districts and two supervisor office locations. the Custer Gallatin National Forest is known as one of the most ecologically diverse landscapes in Region One.
Volunteer campground hosts are front-line representatives of the U.S. Forest Service. Few Forest Service employees have as much direct daily contact with members of the public as a volunteer campground host. Volunteer service is greatly appreciated and critical to achieving our agency’s mission of protecting the land and serving the people!
This U.S. Forest Service volunteer position is an opportunity to live on the National Forest, providing public service while hosting and maintaining the 20-site Eagle Creek Campground. No reimbursement is provided, volunteer does receive a free campsite including utilities.
Eagle Creek Campground is located 2 miles northeast of the town of Gardiner on Jardine Road and approximately 55 miles south of the city of Livingston along scenic HWY 89 S (paved, two-lane). At an elevation of 6100 feet, the campground overlooks Yellowstone National Park's majestic peaks. This 20-site campground has gravel roads with unpaved sites that accommodate a maximum of 48’ RVs. The Yellowstone River Trailhead is located within this campground. Vault toilets, fire rings, picnic tables, and horse corrals are provided to the public at this fee campground. Water and Electric is provided to host site only.

- Eagle Creek has 20 camp sites
- Limit of two motor vehicles per site
- Maximum stay permitted: 16 days
- Average parking size: 12' x 40'
- Hook ups: Host site only
- Number of restrooms: 2 (single unit vaults)
- Food and attractant storage regulations are in effect to prevent wildlife/human conflicts
- There are no garbage cans or garbage services (pack it in pack it out)
