Central Scholarship's application review process celebrates the altruism, persistence, determination, and grit of Maryland's students as they pursue their next educational goal and "Go Higher". We're looking for volunteers with the ability to evaluate these qualities and more--which is why we are inviting our community to become virtual application readers for the 2025-2026 application cycle.
After the General Application closes on March 3rd 2025, Central Scholarship will be hosting virtual volunteer training sessions to help our readers understand the needs and requirements that help our review process proceed with fidelity and integrity. If this interests you, you can sign up using the Volunteer Match form below.
Volunteer application reviews are conducted remotely and are flexible to the availability of each reader. For more information about the review process, contact us via email at gohigher@central-scholarship.org

Mission Statement
Central Scholarship helps determined Maryland students build better lives and fulfilling careers by providing crucial support that enables them to complete an accredited college degree or career-training program.
Description
Central Scholarship is a privately funded statewide nonprofit in Maryland, founded in Baltimore in 1924, now based in Owings Mills. We are devoted to helping individuals achieve a better life through higher education and career training. We believe that education is a right, not a privilege and that scholarships are an investment, not an expense.
We help low-income students from throughout Maryland pay for college, graduate school, and certificate training, awarding $1 million annually in scholarships and interest-free loans.
Through our financial education series, College Cash (R), we educate students and parents about how to pay for college.
Through our state advocacy program focused on scholarship award displacement, we lookout for the interests of low-income students.
Through our student loan paydown, we pay off the undergraduate debt of one of our student recipients, each year, up to $30,000, to bring attention to the national student debt crisis.
