The American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania asks you to consider giving your time this year and committing to volunteering to help people in need in 2025.
"Our volunteers make up 90% of our workforce and are the beating heart and soul of the Red Cross," said Jorge Martinez, CEO of the American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania. "Their support is immeasurable. Their precious gift of time builds our capacity to help people in what can be their darkest hour."
Depending on your interests, the Red Cross offers a variety of volunteer opportunities-from supporting a family after a fire in their home to helping a military member during an emergency or ensuring blood is available for patients who need it.
Below are some of the most needed volunteer roles in Pennsylvania:
Disaster Action Team (DAT): Help families in your community after a home fire or other disaster. DAT team members provide emotional support, emergency financial assistance, and information to help families begin to recover.
Hero Care Caseworker: Support military members, their families, and our veterans. Become a casework volunteer and help provide emergency communications and critical services to military families worldwide.
Blood donor ambassadors: Engage with blood donors by greeting them at blood drives, helping them register, answering questions, providing information, and assisting them at the refreshments table.
Blood transportation specialists: Volunteer transportation specialists support patients by delivering blood from our facilities to local hospitals. If you have a little free time, love driving, and enjoy meeting new people, the Red Cross has a great volunteer spot waiting for you.
In 2024, more than 3,400 volunteers supported the American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania. These volunteers provided care and comfort to families after more than 1,500 local disasters, including home fires and floods. They deployed nationwide to help after devastating hurricanes, wildfires, and other emergencies. In addition, Red Cross volunteers supported more than 5,000 blood drives to ensure patients had access to lifesaving blood.
The need for help has never been greater. Join us in providing relief and hope when it matters most. Visit redcross.org/volunteer to get started today.
Central PA Chapter of the American Red Cross includes Adams, Centre, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Mifflin, Perry, and York Counties.
