Volunteer Opportunities
At Alameda Park Zoo, volunteers play a crucial role in enhancing the experience for our visitors and supporting our animals. Here’s how you can contribute:
- Education Center/Reptile Room: Help visitors learn about our animals through interactive exhibits and programs.
- Special Events: Assist with planning and support during events like Earth Day, Halloween Nights, and Zoobilee.
- Animal Enrichment: Help design and build engaging enrichment items for our animals.
- Zoo Beautification: Participate in projects to maintain and enhance our beautiful zoo grounds.
- Earth Day Planning Group: Collaborate with a team to plan activities and displays for our Earth Day celebration.
Earth Day Celebration: Saturday, April 19, 2025, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
This year’s theme, "Our Planet, Our Responsibility," highlights sustainability and conservation. Volunteers can assist with event planning, setup, guest engagement, and activity facilitation.
We invite you to attend our upcoming orientation to learn more about these opportunities and take the first step toward joining our volunteer team.

At the orientation, we’ll:
- Introduce the various volunteer roles and responsibilities.
- Provide details about upcoming events, including Earth Day.

Alameda Park Zoo is a community-focused zoo in Alamogordo, New Mexico, dedicated to wildlife conservation, education, and providing a family-friendly space to connect with animals. Home to over 175 animals from 70 species, we inspire appreciation for nature and foster environmental stewardship.
