Help Create beautiful streetscape for our community!
Live Oak and Soquel have many sidewalk planters that need regular maintenance. This issue became more noticeable in recent years when inflation outpaced the County's budget for streetscape maintenance in mid-county. The County focuses on clearing tall weeds in medians in the middle of the road that block sightlines. However, we are looking for volunteers who would like to do light upkeep to sidewalk planters, that could use more care.
Volunteers with general/beginner gardening skills are welcome - you don't need to be an expert.
Volunteers are responsible for clearing out the old vegetation, prepping the area, and planting new plants. Some volunteers may also use gardening tools such as shovels, leaf blowers, rakes, hoes, edgers, and clippers. A monthly commitment of a few hours is requested.
