Want to camp for free, work outside, and have a great schedule this summer? USACE Barren River Lake is seeking a roving grounds/maintenance volunteer to work in our various recreation areas during the 2025 summer season. Duties will include basic small-scale maintenance and grounds activities such as mowing, removing sticks and limbs from mow areas, light cleaning, litter pick up, and removing ash from firepits. Additional small projects such as painting may be assigned. Volunteer work hours will fall on weekdays with weekends off.
One campsite with picnic table, fire ring, lantern hook, and electric/water/sewer hookups will be provided at Beaver Creek Recreation Area. Applicants must provide their own self-contained camping unit in good condition. Please note, there are no flush toilet or shower facilities onsite. Volunteers will be able to travel to nearby campgrounds to access these amenities if needed. Must provide 25 hours of service per week.
