Are you a skilled communicator with a passion for storytelling? Join the Special Olympics North Carolina (SONC) team as a Media Representative and help us share the powerful stories of our athletes, coaches, and volunteers with the world!
What We’re Looking For:- Individuals with public relations or communications experience.
- Strong social media skills and a knack for finding compelling stories.
- Enthusiastic team players who are ready to engage with athletes, coaches, and media.
As a Media Representative, you’ll play a key role in our event’s communications efforts, including:
- Assisting the SONC communications team with social media coverage of athletic events.
- Identifying and capturing feature stories of athletes, coaches, and volunteers.
- Shooting short video clips on your phone and securing quotes from participants.
- Helping local media find the best spots for filming, securing interviews, and capturing quality footage.
- Dates: Special Olympics NC Summer Games - Commit to at least one day of competition: Friday, May 31, or Saturday, June 1.
- Training: Participate in a short Zoom training in May to prepare for the role.
- Venues: Media reps will be assigned to competition venues of their choosing.
- We also could use your skills as a warm-up at several events happening prior to the Summer Games.
- Be part of a team that shines a spotlight on the joy, determination, and achievements of our athletes.
- Build your portfolio with impactful stories and media contributions.
- Contribute your skills to an event that fosters inclusion and inspires the community.
With your help, we’ll ensure the spirit of the Special Olympics reaches far and wide!
