As refugees resettle in Kentucky, one of the key challenges they face is navigating their new environment without a car. Learning how to use public transportation is a crucial step toward becoming self-sufficient and independent. Volunteers are needed to assist refugee clients in learning how to use the TANK transit system, enabling them to access essential services and job opportunities.
Volunteers will meet clients at their homes and guide them through the process of using public buses to travel to important destinations, such as the grocery store, the KRM office, English classes, and local employment centers. The volunteer will demonstrate how to plan routes, read schedules, and pay fares, ensuring clients feel confident using the bus system on their own.
This hands-on support will help refugees gain mobility and independence, contributing to their successful integration into their new community. Join us in making a meaningful impact by teaching refugees how to navigate their new home!
