Assist in staffing Lewis & Clark Visitor Center, including professionally representing the US Army Corps of Engineers by providing exceptionally high-quality customer service; opening and closing the facility; providing orientation, information, and interpretation to visitors; telling visitors about project activities; informing visitors of potential safety hazards; distributing maps and brochures as requested; operating a cash register and selling bookstore merchandise; accurately collecting and accounting for monies, and operating basic audio-visual equipment.
Rove trails and grounds to assist project visitors with orientation, information, and interpretation of the project; inform visitors of potential safety hazards; distribute maps and brochures as needed and pick up trash and litter deposited along the trails.
There is no monetary stipend for this position; there is a RV space with hook-ups provided located a 5-minute leisurely walk from the Visitor Center, which is our base operations for our Visitor Services team. Due to some federal fee collection as part of the job, a background check is required and will be covered by USACE .

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to provide quality customer service; to communicate and interact effectively and respectfully with many different people; to disseminate general orientation and information; to learn about the cultural and natural history of the park; to read maps and provide directions; to collect and account for monies and operate a cash register; to deal effectively with high volume/high-stress situations. Standing for prolonged periods.
Position is available to volunteers who can provide 32 hours per week or 24 hours per week for a volunteer couple.
