Queens Community House is recruiting volunteers for our Friendly Visiting program, a program that matches home bound older adults with volunteers for weekly visiting to help create a mutual relationship and reduce isolation and loneliness among older adults in our community. Friendly visiting is an enriching opportunity for the volunteer to develop a meaningful friendship. Together, the older adult and volunteer can discuss shared interests, learn/teach new skills, read books, learn technology, and celebrate special holidays. We are currently in need of male volunteer for an older adult living in Long Island City, Queens for in-person visits. Our client is a big sports fan (the Mets and the Celtics are his favorite). Our client loves all sports and his interests include watching old movies and listening to music. He's a big Beatles fan! He's available for afternoon visits any day of the week. If you would like to meet this wonderful older adult and share stories once a week for an hour! Schedule is flexible. We can work around your availability. Email us at volunteer@qchnyc.org for more information!

Description
Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service settlement house that serves the diverse neighborhoods of Queens. We serve residents of all ages, races, faiths, and ethnicities while supporting the viability of the borough as a whole.
QCH was formed in 1975 (as Forest Hills Community House) to help heal the wounds of a neighborhood conflict. Over four decades, our reach and breadth have grown; today we offer a broad network of comprehensive services at 25 program sites in 11 different neighborhoods in Queens, allowing us to impact individuals, families, and entire communities.
