Hospice Volunteers Needed!

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: OSF Hospice of Ottawa-Peru

Are you looking for a flexible volunteer opportunity that includes compassion and kindness, serving hospice patients and their families with the greatest care and love? Then OSF Hospice of Ottawa-Peru needs you! We have opportunities available for volunteers to work directly with patients and families providing emotional support, companionship and socialization. Some needs might include sitting with patients while family members go to an appointment or run and errand, visiting patients in nursing home facilities when loved ones cannot or helping with light household tasks. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator, Jackie Wroblewski at jacqueline.b.wroblewski@osfhealthcare.org, or give her a call at 815-433-6090. We'd love to hear from you! Once a background check is performed, a few other requirements need to be met, and you are on your way to giving valuable meaningful time to those on their end of life journey.

Mission Statement

In the spirit of Christ and the example of Francis of Assisi, the Mission of OSF Healthcare is to serve persons with the greatest care and love in a community that celebrates the gift of life.

Description

The OSF Hospice Philosophy is to provide care for the terminally ill and their significant others in the comfort of their own home or home-like surroundings. OSF Hospice care allows the terminally ill to live out their last days among the people and the things they love, as comfortable and pain free as possible. Volunteers are an integral and important component of the OSF Hospice team. Hospice volunteers choose the role they are most comfortable with. Training classes are offered several times a year.
