The Global Co Lab is expanding its Afghanistan Hub, a vital initiative supporting Afghan women and girls with weekly online English classes. Currently, we serve approximately 45 students, with plans to double our reach in the coming months. Proficiency in English provides these women with critical access to educational resources, scholarships abroad, and opportunities to escape the oppressive regime of the Taliban. Beyond language instruction, we help students prepare for and fund English proficiency exams and connect them to scholarship opportunities worldwide.
In order to expand this critical project, we are seeking passionate volunteer teachers. The role involves a weekly commitment of 2-4 hours, and includes working with roughly 15 students per session. New teachers are paired with experienced colleagues, ensuring collaboration, shared resources, and curriculum support. Requirements include experience teaching English (our levels range from A1 to B2), patience, and a desire to empower Afghan women. While unpaid, we offer official certification of volunteer hours and the rewarding experience of making a meaningful impact. If you're interested in joining us, please reach out to Victoria Drews at vdrews01@gmx.de. Mission Statement
To engage teens globally to be changemakers, utilizing the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals as a framework with a global video contest and virtual teen-led SDG virtual meeting gatherings called SDG Hubs.
Description
The Global Co Lab Network is a virtual "do tank" that empowers inter-generational engagement focused on empowering teens globally using an annual video contest and virtual teen-led "Hubs" focused on the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals. The next generation needs to be better understood and heard and older generations have significant experience and networks to share. The Global Co Lab designs inter-generational engagements focused on fostering more effective solutions led by youth, working with adult mentors on such topics as climate change, gender equality, quality education, racial justice, wildlife conservation, fighting hunger, getting rid of single-use plastics, reducing the stigma of mental health, fostering work on all of these issues in other languages (Spanish and Turkish now) and calling together all artists to work on these goals.
