Mission Statement
Oregon Queer History Collective shall be an historical society that collects the records of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer+ (LGBTQ+) individuals, organizations, and other resources bearing upon diverse genders and sexualities in American society with a concentration on Oregon.
Description
Oregon Queer History Collective, formerly the Gay and Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest (GLAPN), is a community-founded LGBTQIA2S+ historical society established in 1994. Over our thirty years, we have partnered with Oregon Historical Society, Portland State University, and others to document, collect, preserve, and share archival materials from LGBTQIA2S+ Oregonians.
Recently, our organization has reevaluated our work and structure. Our monthly general meetings on the first Thursday will alternate between agenda/work-oriented structure and social meetings. We've transitioned to committee structures, such as Archives and Exhibits, to inspire more action and participation from people interested in being involved in the collective. The committee structure also allows for people to form their own committees based on projects they want to complete.
