Volunteer Opportunity: Support Group Meeting Childcare Volunteers

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of families affected by autism? Do you have experience or understanding of autism and a heart for providing support? If so, we have a rewarding volunteer opportunity for you!

We are seeking compassionate individuals to volunteer as childcare assistants during our upcoming Autism Parent Support Group Meeting. This meeting will bring together parents who have children on the autism spectrum, providing them with a safe and supportive environment to share experiences, insights, and resources.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

• Engage with and supervise children in a designated area at the back of the meeting room.
• Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for children to play, engage in activities, and socialize with other children.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care.
• Be mindful of each child's individual needs and preferences.
• Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere for both children and parents attending the support group meeting.

Volunteer Qualifications:

• Experience working with children, particularly those with autism or other special needs, is preferred but not required.
• Understanding and empathy towards individuals and families affected by autism.
• Patience, kindness, and a non-judgmental attitude.
• Ability to communicate effectively with children and parents.
• Willingness to adhere to confidentiality guidelines regarding sensitive information shared during the meeting.

• Location: Clark Family Branch St. Louis County Public Library, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63131
• Activities and toys will be available for children to enjoy
