Job Summary

The Mirror Effects is seeking a Volunteer Grant Writer to support its mission of increasing civic engagement through legal education and empowering marginalized communities. In this remote role, you will identify funding opportunities, craft compelling grant proposals, and contribute to the growth and sustainability of our programs, including our high school legal aid network and other innovative initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grant Research and Identification:

    • Research potential funding sources, including foundations, corporations, and government grants, that align with The Mirror Effects’ mission and goals.
    • Maintain an organized database of grant opportunities, deadlines, and submission details.
  • Proposal Development:

    • Write and edit persuasive grant proposals that highlight The Mirror Effects’ impact and potential.
    • Collaborate with the team to gather program details, budgets, and supporting materials for proposals.
    • Tailor each proposal to meet the specific requirements and priorities of funders.
  • Grant Management:

    • Submit grant applications by deadlines and track their status.
    • Assist in preparing progress and final reports for funded grants.
  • Relationship Building:

    • Support the cultivation of relationships with funders through written communications and updates on program progress.
    • Assist in expressing gratitude to funders through acknowledgment letters and follow-up communications.
Qualifications
  • Experience:

    • Previous grant writing experience is a plus but not required. Enthusiastic candidates will have opportunities to learn and grow with support from our team.
  • Skills:

    • Strong written communication skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
    • Attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
    • Ability to research and synthesize complex information effectively.
    • Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising or willingness to learn.
  • Qualities:

    • Passion for The Mirror Effects’ mission to promote civic engagement and legal education.
    • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
    • Commitment to meeting deadlines and producing high-quality work.
Time Commitment
  • Flexible hours, with an estimated commitment of 5-10 hours per week, depending on deadlines and project needs.

As a newly fiscally sponsored nonprofit under Global Peace Media, we are at the forefront of fostering meaningful dialogue and action.
