Sometimes the opportunity is to just be present. Some of our patients are facing their terminal illness and final days without the support of family or friends to surround them or when family members need to step away from the bedside of their dying loved one. At Gentiva Hospice, we believe that no one should die alone unless they choose to, so we utilize trained and compassionate Vigil volunteers to provide supportive presence to patients lacking support.

Vigil volunteers provide supportive presence to patients in their final days and hours by holding their hands, playing music, offering reassurance, creating a peaceful environment, etc. Human presence at the end of life can help reduce pain, anxiety and fear. Vigil volunteers may or maynot be present when a patient takes their last breath. Gentiva Hospice welcomes your gifts of time and compassion. You can make a profound difference in someone's life, including your own.
