ORGANIZATION: Friends of the WNC Nature Center

As part of our Gateway to the Southern Appalachians Project, the WNC Nature Center is establishing a pollinator garden this spring! Are you a master gardener or someone with a passion for gardening? We have the opportunity for you! We are currently looking for several volunteers to help plant and maintain our new pollinator garden. In addition to working in the garden, volunteers will interact with and educate guests. Volunteers should be familiar with the attributes of nectar and host plants.

Responsibilities include: Planting, mulching, weeding, deadheading, watering and pruning. Volunteers will be encouraging guests to observe as well as educate the public on the function of the garden.

Requirements:

  • Significant knowledge of pollinator plants.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk or stoop for two hours.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.
  • Ability to work in full sun.

Shifts: We are looking for shifts Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00-11:00 and 2 afternoon shifts 12:00 - 2:00 during the week (days flexible) .
