Plane Pull Volunteer Opportunity!
Saturday, Jan. 11 from 7:30am-2pm
This Saturday, the youth drug and alcohol prevention organization SafeLaunch is hosting a Plane Pull at the Buckeye Race to the Runway!
We're looking for four able-bodied people (ages 14 and up) to make the event run smoothly from 7:30am-2pm.
The SafeLaunch Plane Pull is a fun challenge where individuals and teams of two will engage in a tug-of-war against a 2,000 pound Cessna 182.
Registration for participants aged 12-20 is $20. Registration for participants 21 and up is $30. Minimum age for competition is 12. There is no upper age limit!
Funds will be used to educate parents and teens that substance use disorder is a preventable pediatric onset disease. Every $3,000 raised sponsors a new Drug Free Club in a middle or high school.
Volunteers are needed for these positions:
- Timekeeper
- Starter and Leaderboard keeper
- Rope manager
- Registration table

The SafeLaunch mission is to prevent adolescent exposure to alcohol and other drugs known to cause substance use disorder. Nine out of ten people suffering from this chronic disease today began using substances before age 18, making substance use disorder a preventable juvenile onset disease. With your support, we provide parents and decision makers with the information and support they need to prevent youth drug exposure.
Description
SafeLaunch promotes the One Choice Prevention initiative to increase the non-use of substances by youth before age 21 for reasons of health. We take this message across the country through collaborative efforts with prevention partners, and with the support of private donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations.
Our vision is a future where the wellness of youth is protected from the financial interests of industries that benefit from the sale of addictive substances.
