Reports To: Founder/President & CEO
Position Summary
The Director of Community Impact and Strategic Initiatives will lead the development and execution of innovative programs and partnerships that support the mission of United Social Services Inc. (USS). This position plays a key role in expanding USS’s reach, ensuring sustainable community engagement, and driving measurable outcomes aligned with our mission to uplift at-risk individuals and families.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Development
Collaborate with the CEO to develop and implement strategic initiatives that advance the organization’s vision and mission.
Identify trends, opportunities, and challenges within the communities USS serves to inform program development.
Design scalable solutions that foster social equity and empowerment for underserved populations.
Community Engagement and Partnership Development
Build and maintain relationships with local and global organizations, government agencies, and community leaders.
Represent USS at events, conferences, and meetings to increase visibility and secure partnerships.
Lead efforts to engage stakeholders in USS programs, including volunteers, donors, and corporate sponsors.
Program Oversight
Oversee the implementation and evaluation of key programs, ensuring alignment with USS’s goals.
Collaborate with program directors to establish metrics for success and assess community impact.
Identify funding opportunities and assist in preparing grant proposals to support initiatives.
Leadership and Team Collaboration
Provide guidance to staff, volunteers, and board members to align efforts with strategic goals.
Foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, and collaboration within USS.
Act as a thought leader to inspire others in the mission of creating inclusive communities.
Qualifications
Proven experience in program development, community engagement, or nonprofit leadership.
Strong understanding of the needs of at-risk populations, including LGBTQ adults, foster care youth, and individuals experiencing homelessness or disabilities.
Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Passion for social change and a commitment to USS’s mission and values.
Preferred Skills
Experience in grant writing and fundraising.
Knowledge of housing solutions, career development, or social services.
Leadership experience in a growing nonprofit or community-based organization.
Time Commitment
Approximately 10-20 hours per week, with flexibility depending on project needs.
Ability to attend occasional in-person or virtual meetings and events.
Compensation
This is a volunteer position with the potential for transition to a paid role as USS grows and secures funding.

Description
United Social Services Inc. (USS) was founded over six years ago by Lee Wallace in San Antonio, Texas, with the mission to uplift and support at-risk and homeless young adults, LGBTQ adults, foster care adults, disabled persons, senior citizens, and families. USS has persevered through financial challenges, including a near closure, to continue serving its community and creating pathways to stability and success. USS offers a wide range of programs, including housing solutions under the Pathways to Home initiative, career development through Career Compass, health and wellness support with Wellbeing Matters, and community-building efforts via Community Connect. Each program is designed to address interconnected needs, from food and transportation to life skills and job training. USS has achieved milestones such as helping participants secure permanent housing, obtain professional certifications, and develop life-changing skills. Intending to impact 100-200 individuals per program annually from 2025 -2030, USS continues to work toward building a more inclusive and supportive community.
