The Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research. Have you ever stopped to wonder what makes this event so successful and memorable? One Word.... Volunteers! TOGETHER WE CAN #ENDALZ
Reasons to Get Involve
- Meet and engage with other dedicated individuals while having fun, being part of a team and supporting a great cause.
- Help us advance the fight against Alzheimer's Disease and all other dementia.
- Give back to your community while finding ways to harness your own unique talents and skills.
- Enjoy a flexible volunteer experience either in-person or hybrid.
Types of Committee Activities Include:
- Social Engagement: Identify potential sponsorship opportunities or recruit new company teams through on-line research and community involvement; Coach and support our walk participants through phone calls, emails and writing personalized letters or thank you cards; Strategize and implement ways to build community awareness about Walk to End Alzheimer's and our mission.
- Event Day Logistical Planning: Coordinate detailed plans for each area of the event to optimize the walk experience for all participants; Incorporate the Association's Mission Pillars (Advocacy, Education and Support). Create a safe, fun and well-marked Walk route; Secure entertainment and additional event day volunteers as needed;
- In-Kind Donations: Canvas our community to identify local businesses and vendors to partner with for donated goods or services to be used towards the walk event and additional wrap-around events throughout the year. (examples - refreshments, supplies or host venues)
Adhere to all brand guidelines for the Alzheimer's Association and those specific to Walk to End Alzheimer's.

Description
The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support, and research. The Illinois Chapter serves 87 counties, with offices in Bloomington, Marion, Chicago, Joliet, Peoria, Quincy, Rockford, and Springfield. Since 1980, the Association has provided reliable information and care consultation; created supportive services for families; increased funding for dementia research; and influenced public policy changes across the state.

REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18
- Orientation or Training
- Attendance at one (1) meeting per month starting 8 months prior to walk event date (Feb. / Mar. through Oct. / Nov.). An additional 2-3 hours monthly commitment dedicated to project-based tasks (flexible to your own availability and free time).
- Complete a brief orientation & receive on-going access to trainings, tools and resources to shape your volunteer experience; Committee members are expected to form a personal fundraising team of their own and actively participate.
