Pet Therapy Volunteers Needed for Hospice in Knoxville - (Non-Medical)
ORGANIZATION: Amedisys Hospice, Knoxville
Please visit the new page to apply.
Do you and your certified therapy animal have a passion for bringing comfort and joy to others? Our hospice is seeking dedicated pet therapy volunteers to provide companionship and emotional support to patients living with terminal illnesses. As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to create a flexible schedule that works for you.
No medical background needed! Our volunteers do not provide any medical or personal care-your role will be strictly to offer emotional and social support.
How you and your therapy animal can help:
- Provide companionship to patients, offering a calming and comforting presence.
- Share the joy and unconditional love that a therapy animal can provide.
- Visit patients in their homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes to brighten their day.
- Offer support to families and caregivers, creating moments of peace and connection.
- Assist in alleviating stress and loneliness through meaningful interactions with your therapy animal.
Volunteers may also engage in light support activities, such as brief chats with caregivers or simply being present to offer relief through your visits. However, the primary focus of this role is the unique comfort that comes from pet therapy.
If you’re a compassionate individual with a certified therapy animal looking to make a meaningful impact, we would love to hear from you!
