Volunteers can help our hospice families by sitting with a patient for a few hours. It is often exhausting for families taking care of their loved ones. Our volunteers can provide a much-needed "break" for the caregiver by staying with the patient for just a few hours. Hospice of Helping Hands helps patients in the following seven counties: Arenac, Crawford, Gladwin, Iosco, Ogemaw, Oscoda, and Roscommon. To better serve our patients, we need volunteers throughout all of our service area. With high gas prices, we always try to keep our volunteers close to their home.

In most cases, volunteers sit and visit with the patient, possibly help them with a meal or snack, or maybe lend a stabilizing hand when walking. Sometimes the volunteer just needs to be in the home with a sleeping patient so he/she is not alone.
