Volunteer to make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ Seniors experiencing loss.

Why: The Grief & Loss Facilitator provides social engagement and support services to LGBTQ+ seniors, all of which are free or low-cost.

Who: The Senior Services department of the Los Angeles LGBT Center strives to create a safe, welcoming, and respectful community where LGBTQ+ older adults (50+) can come together to learn, connect, build friendships, gain support, and thrive. Our workshops and activities include; support groups, dance and yoga classes, art workshops, writing and poetry, etc.

What to Expect: This position supports Senior Services Moving Forward After Loss group. This group is a peer-facilitated, ongoing support group for those who have suffered loss(es) and are interested in exploring life after loss.

Facilitate workshops/activities geared for our LGBTQ+ senior community;

Create an inclusive environment during workshop sessions;

Gather and prepare materials for workshops/activities;

Track attendance for each workshop/activity and submit attendance records to Activities Coordinator;

Other duties as assigned.

What's Required:

Tuesdays 1:30-3 pm, In Person

Strong customer service skills;

Strong verbal and written communication skills;

Able to work independently;

Responsible, respectful, and dependable;

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientation and gender identities in a multicultural setting;

Experience working with seniors a plus;

Experience working with grief and loss a plus;

LCSW or MFT a plus.
