We invite women from an array of STEM professions to speak to our middle and high school students by visiting chapters all over the Denver metro area. As a guest speaker you can expect to:
Share about your career, the path to where you are now, and why it excites you. The goal is to let the students get to know you - a real live STEM professional with a cool job! Some topics you might cover:
- Your personal story
- Obstacles you’ve faced
- Current projects
- Favorite part(s) of your job
Facilitate a hands-on activity! Students will connect with you through your activity - and it helps them connect with your career or area of study too! The goals are to deepen their understanding of a topic in your field, and to help the students form relationships with their peers and you as a mentor through shared experience. We will collaborate with you to develop an activity if you don’t already have one. We have done a wide range of activities with students and we are always open to new ideas so your imagination is the limit!

Description
About Us:
Girls in STEM is a nonprofit organization designed to empower middle school and high school girls in the metro Denver area to seek out a STEM career post secondary education. We achieve this by connecting them with a network of professional women working in STEM industries who are visible and accessible to serve as role models and/or mentors to empower girls so that they can identify with and ultimately visualize themselves in a similar career.
What We Do:
Our organization works with local schools to establish after school club chapters. Through each chapter, Girls in STEM facilitates after school roundtable discussions with STEM focused college students in addition to professional women in various STEM fields. Our team organizes and offers field trips, job shadowing opportunities, mentoring opportunities, networking and public speaking experiences with professional organizations in the Colorado area.
