Come join us for a mini camp designed to teach participants the basics of connecting with others through theater activities with the integration of arts, music, movement, and hands on learning experiences. Each session will be thematic in nature and will provide participants with exposure to new learning, and time to practice and showcase their newly learned skills. These mini camps will help to build skills that participants can use during our regular SuperStars Creative Arts Camp experience too!
Goals of the Camp:
- Increase awareness in one’s own creative art ability and self-expression
- Interacting socially with others
- Increase an individual’s physical and emotional control
- Increase self-esteem
- Have fun and make friends
We need some of our great volunteers to help support this fun program! Volunteers will be partnered up with camp participants to support them as needed. The camps will take place in our newly expanded multi-purpose space at our office in Wauwatosa - easy to get to! These camps were so successful last year that we have increased from two camps to nine!
The camps are scheduled for the following Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
February 15 - The World of Dr Seuss - stories, songs and sneeches!
March 15 - Luck of the Irish - learn, sing, and dance about Ireland
May 17 - Hollywood - Lights, camera, action! The variety & history of performance!
June 21 - Kid Kindness - Being a caring friend
July 19th - Let’s Be Happy & Healthy - explore healthy habits, exercise, eating healthier, calming down and breathing
August 16th - Animals at the Zoo
September 20th - Adventure on our Great Lakes
October 18th - Our 5 senses - Exploring Beautiful Autumn
November 15th - Harvest, food, family, and the culture of Native Americans in Wisconsin
December 20th - Holiday Lights: Kwanza, Christmas, Hanukkah, The Solstice and more
Volunteers should be at least 16 years old for this program. Volunteers will be working directly with the participants serving as a "coach" to help them be as fully involved in the camp as possible. A coaching session for volunteers will start at 9:00 a.m. just prior to the camp session (which starts at 9:30 a.m.) to best prepare the volunteer to support the participants.
