West Houston Assistance Ministries fights hunger like a SUPERHERO! Come join us at our Spring Dash Fun Run to raise awareness and money for our community programs. Our mission is focused on assisting families and individuals who are struggling with challenges such as unemployment, underemployment, illness, unexpected expenses, etc. and who need a hand up and a little help to get back on their feet. We FIGHT food insecurities, through award-winning Food Pantry; stop evictions and prevent homelessness and disconnections through rent, hotel and utility assistance; and we help families get back on their feet by equiping them with the tools to do so through adult learning classes (English as a Second Language, GED, Financial Literacy, and scholarships for Vocational Certifications such as CNA and CDL licenses), job readiness (resume' bulilding, interview skills, and computer training), and resources like work uniforms, boots, interview attire, and bus passes or gas cards so they can start or obtain new jobs. Our goal is to take families from crisis, to stability, to self-sufficiency, and we do this with the help of generous volunteers, individuals, corporations, churches and organizations.
Spring Dash volunteers would assist with any of the following: initial set up, registration and packet pick up, hand out water, snacks and swag bags, manage entertainment and game tables, light clean up. Don't forget to dress as your favorite Superhero :)
