Art Buddies pairs kind adults with children from the Twin Cities highest-needs schools for one-on-one creative mentorship programs. No artistic skills required!

Art Buddies helps kids connect with their imagination, be encouraged to believe in themselves, be inspired to share their ideas, and learn creative and problem-solving skills.

Our mentors and students work together to create a one-of-a-kind costume based on the child's imagination-along the way, we spark creativity, build confidence, and spread joy!

About Art Buddies

Location:

110 North Fifth Street, Floor 10, Minneapolis, MN 55403, US

Mission Statement

Art Buddies' creative mentorship programs help kids build a foundation of creative confidence. At Art Buddies, our mission is to empower children through creative arts mentoring centered around fostering creativity, self-expression, and confidence. We aim to use art and art mentoring as a tool for personal growth and development, helping children discover their talents, build positive relationships, and gain a sense of personal agency through artistic expression.

Description

Art Buddies empower underprivileged to discover their creative abilities while building confidence and big dreams. We pair each child one-on-one with a special creative mentor. Many of our volunteers come from professional creative fields such as advertising, architecture and design.

We partner with qualifying elementary schools in the Twin Cities. Students who attend our partner schools are able to enroll in Art Buddies as a free after-school offering.

At every program, creative volunteers work one-on-one with their child. The kids are amazed that they each get their own adult. One boy told us, "Art Buddies is cool, you get your own person!"

Our workshops last from 7 to 10 weeks, with up to 40 mentors helping up to 40 kids at each school to create an imaginative and unique costume that reflects the child's interests, strengths and dreams.

Through the creative process, children take pride in who they are, what they can do, and who they can become through the power of creativity.
