Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade and Celebration 2025
We will need assistance is in the food service tent. The line tends to get backed up so we are hoping to combat that with extra hands on deck to help with food prep and serving. We will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs and will be giving out chips and drinks to go with them.
MLK Parade
The City of Deerfield Beach is excited to announce the special birthday celebration of the great Civil Rights Leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM! We invite all parade enthusiasts to our annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, starting at 10:00 AM from Pioneer Park to Oveta McKeithen Recreational Complex.
MLK Celebration
Immediately following the Parade, the City will host an MLK celebration at Oveta McKeithen Recreational Complex on the backfield. This free community event will include a picnic lunch, activities for kids, and live entertainment.

Description
Since 1925, the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Deerfield Beach has been vital to the lifeblood of the community. Today the parks system carries on the tradition through 266 developed acres at 30 sites. In 2003, Glatting Jackson developed a 25-year Parks and Recreation System Master Plan. The goal of the Master Plan is to assist the city in expanding and revitalizing our parks and recreation system to meet the needs and desires of its growing population. The city has begun capital improvement projects throughout our parks system with funding coming from various grants and bond dollars.
The recreation amenities we have available throughout the city include an aquatics center,athletic fields,gymnasium, outdoor basketball courts, tennis center and tot lots. The department also oversees the Blue Wave award winning beach, neighborhood parks, nature preserves and cemeteries. In addition, a wide variety of recreational, social and cultural programs are available at our community centers.
