Wildlife Management Volunteer

Housing:

The position will be housed in a shared campsite in Yosemite Valley within walking distance of duty location.


Position Description:

Volunteers will assist park biologists in reducing human-wildlife conflicts by detecting and mitigating human food. Volunteers will help educate the public about wildlife and regulations, give guidance about food storage, and assist with other wildlife management-related tasks when necessary. Volunteers may assist with capture and relocation of wild animals using various tools. Volunteers will track wildlife using GPS and radio telemetry and manage visitor and wildlife interactions as necessary including negative conditioning animals or providing direction to crowds. This position requires a high level of public contact and a high level of professionalism. Preference will be given to applicants who can commit to 3 months minimum roughly June-August.
