LoveSetMatch is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering youth through tennis, education, and healthy living. Our programs provide opportunities for children to stay active, learn life skills, and connect with their community.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer to join our West Covina program as a Physical Education Assistant Coach. In this role, you will support the Head Coach in delivering engaging and inclusive PE sessions with a focus on tennis and general fitness activities. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of young students while gaining hands-on experience in coaching and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and leading physical education activities, ensuring all participants are engaged and safe.
  • Help set up and take down equipment for each session.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during activities to help them improve their skills.
  • Promote a positive and encouraging environment that fosters teamwork, discipline, and a love for physical activity.
  • Ensure proper supervision and safety of all participants during sessions.
  • Serve as a role model, demonstrating sportsmanship, respect, and enthusiasm.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for physical education, sports, and working with children.
  • Basic knowledge of tennis or willingness to learn (training can be provided).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches and program staff.
  • A positive attitude, patience, and a commitment to LoveSetMatch’s mission.
  • Must pass a background check and adhere to all safety and child protection guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or working with children in an educational or sports setting.
  • Familiarity with tennis rules and techniques.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Description

Our mission is to train unsupported kids and adults into healthy individuals through affordable tennis and fitness education. We offer game-based tennis and racquet sport education for people, especially kids and youth in Los Angeles, with an ultimate goal of providing free tennis lessons for all. Our programs include morning and evening lessons on weekdays and weekends, a summer program and partnership with LA County sports initiatives such as Parks After Dark.
