Marketing & Communications Volunteer
Kirkwood Historical Society seeks a volunteer to assist with marketing and communications efforts which support the mission of the Society - to preserve and promote:
- History of Kirkwood, Missouri archived and managed by the Society in its research library
- The significance of its headquarters at Mudd's Grove, the 166 year old Greek Revival Mansion listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Responsibilities:
- Social Media: Assist with managing social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) by creating engaging content, scheduling posts, and monitoring online conversations.
- Newsletter: Assist with the creation and distribution of newsletters, including writing articles, gathering photos, and managing email lists (Mailchimp)
- Public Relations: Assist with media outreach, including press releases and media kits for upcoming events and exhibits.
- Event Promotion: Help promote events and programs through various channels, including flyers, posters, and community outreach.
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in history and local community.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in social media platforms.
- Basic graphic design skills (Canva).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Schedule & Location
- Flexible work that mostly can be done from home
- Occasional meetings at Mudd's Grove

Description
The Kirkwood Historical Society is an all-volunteer not-for-profit organization that preserves and promotes Kirkwood’s long and storied history. It was organized in 1961 and received its 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service in July 1963. The society makes its headquarters in Mudd’s Grove, a 163 year-old house located in the heart of Kirkwood.
