Job Coach/Mentor
ORGANIZATION: Youth Villages
Please visit the new page to apply.
Job Prep Training Program helps at-risk young people learn to find and keep stable employment. Job Prep participants are ages 17 to 22 and are receiving help in the Youth Villages transitional living program.
These young people have aged out of foster care or state services without family or other support. Research shows that without help they are more likely to be homeless, never complete even a high school education and have trouble finding and keeping jobs.
Each volunteer becomes a career coach and is matched with one young person. Career coaches attend seven two-hour workshops in Springfield starting in April. Coaches assist and mentor young adults as they learn: how to apply for jobs, write a résumé and improve their interviewing and networking skills. Volunteers must be able to attend all sessions.
