Position Summary
As Director of User Experience for Yuvoice you will guide the user experience strategy, balancing intuitive user flow with cutting-edge UI design. You will manage a team of designers and researchers while working closely with the Director of Product Management and Director of Software Development to ensure that every aspect of the product design aligns with user-centered design principles.
As a Director you must also be capable of stepping into any phase of design. You will be responsible for implementing and delivering on advanced UI design techniques, particularly in Figma, and collaborate with front-end developers working in Flutter. The ideal candidate will be committed to our mission and enthusiastic about making a positive impact through technology and design.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the design of the Yuvoice mobile and web platforms, focusing on user flow, interaction design, and aesthetic integrity of the platform.
2. Oversee the creation of wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs in Figma and ensure that designs are user-friendly, screen responsive and visually engaging.
3. Conduct usability testing, gather insights from user feedback, and iterate on design improvements.
4. Mentor and manage a team of UX Designers and UX Researchers, ensuring high design standards and consistency .
5. Collaborate with Product Directors and cross-functional teams (e.g., developers, product managers) to ensure alignment with product goals and technical feasibility.
6. Develop and maintain a design system that ensures consistency across mobile and web platforms, working closely with Flutter developers to ensure smooth implementation.
7. Stay updated with industry trends and emerging tools, particularly in UI design and Figma, to continually enhance the Yuvoice user experience.
8. Document design decisions and methodologies, ensuring clarity for the team and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
* 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design with a portfolio showcasing strong user-centric design solutions.
* Expert proficiency in Figma with advanced knowledge of its features and collaborative design capabilities.
* Experience designing for mobile and web, with a strong understanding of responsive design and Flutter.
* Experience shipping mobile products zero-to-one is preferred.
* Experience conducting user research and applying findings to refine designs.
* Leadership experience, including mentoring junior designers and managing design projects.
* Strong visual design skills with attention to detail and knowledge of typography, color theory, and layout.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
* Passion for civic engagement and social impact.
* Familiarity with agile development processes and front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
Time Commitment:
Minimum of 12-15 hours per week with flexibility around peak project times.
