About HOOFF HOUSE RESCUE AND SANCTUARY INC

Location:

BUNION DR, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32222, US

Mission Statement

Our organization helps the cats that are at risk of being euthanized in shelters or dying on the streets and getting them into homes or transported to another rescue. We focus on cats that are truly desperate and have no where else to go. We aim to provide a place for people and their pets to stay also when they need temporary shelter or during a hurricane.

Description

We are a unique organization because we are in the process of building a home like rescue for volunteers live or stay overnight at to help care for our cats. Currently we have one live in volunteer staying in an old trailer. We have a new trailer being built that our benefactor paid for before he passed away. But we would like to also have a more secure shelter built that can withstand hurricanes.

Our benefactor helped vet and get all but two cats fixed and rehomed from a colony where they were in danger in late 2022. Earlier in 2024 he proposed starting a rescue and Sanctuary for special needs cats. His late sister left him money to help save cats and she always wanted to start a sanctuary but never got around to it. In July 2024 our dream became a reality when we found property and received our 501c3. Unfortunately we can't afford to place the buried electrical cable in a conduit, rewire the garage, run plumbing to the garage, get permits for the new trailer, and build a concrete home/hurricane shelter. We have had to choose to continue to care for the cats we have and put everything else on the back burner for now. On Dec. 9 our benefactor, Edward Champley suddenly passed away from cancer. We want to continue what he started. But we can't do it without help. We have so many beautiful cats that depend on us. Please help us to continue the fight.
