Blood Donor Ambassador (BDA) Your smile helps to save lives!

  • Provide enthusiastic customer service to enhance the blood donor experience.
  • Set the stage for long-term commitments to regular blood donations.

Responsibilities:

  • Stafftheblooddrive registration/sign-in desk, greet potential blood donors, explain the donation process as necessary, and assist with initial intake.
  • Manage blood donor traffic and direct donors to check- in.
  • Ensure blood donors have relevant pre- and post-donation information.
  • Set up, monitor, and maintain cleanliness of reception and hospitality/snack areas.
  • Collaborate with professional collections staff and phlebotomists.
  • Report possible adverse post-donation physical reactions.
  • Additional related duties as discussed with supervisor, including restocking supplies, assisting with sanitizing/disinfecting donor areas and beds, making reminder/cancellation calls, rescheduling donor appointments, and performing follow up activities.

Commitment:

  • In-person, county specific position available in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and/or Philadelphia counties; volunteer at mobile blood drives and/or at fixed sites.
  • Most mobile blood drives are held Monday-Friday between 7AM -7PM , with weekend shifts available at fixed-site locations. Shifts are generally 4-6 hour-blocks, with most volunteers signing up for 1-2 shifts per month. Once trained, you sign up only for shifts that fit your schedule and availability!

Qualifications:

  • Minimumage 18 (16 with adult supervision/parental approval.)
  • Professionalism, effective communication skills, and comfortable working with people from diverse communities and backgrounds.
  • Reliable to committed schedule; arriving/leaving sites on time and adapting to changes if necessary.
  • Ability to use technology to assist with blood donor check-in and related procedures.
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.
