ORGANIZATION: Agape Hospice Care - Atlanta, Georgia

  • 1 person is interested

Thank you for your interest in our volunteer program at Agape Hospice Care! I would like to share some details about how we operate and the steps required to become a volunteer with us.

Our volunteer visits are called "friendly visits." These visits usually take place once a week for about one hour and are designed to provide companionship to our patients, who may live in memory care units, assisted living facilities, personal care homes, or even their own homes. While there is travel involved, we do our best to match you with a patient near your preferred location. Please note that we do not provide hands-on care during these visits, and we can work with your schedule to accommodate your availability.

To become a volunteer, you will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Complete the attached application and consent to a background check, then return it to me.
  2. Take a TB test at our Villa Rica or Woodstock office. We offer these for free during office hours (M-F, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM). You’ll need to return two days later to have the test read.
  3. Complete 9 online training modules via Relias (instructions will be sent to you once you begin the onboarding process).
  4. Submit a copy of your driver’s license and auto insurance card.
  5. Attend an in-person orientation.
  6. Meet your patient.

In addition to our regular visits, we also host community outreach activities such as bingo games, crafts, and veteran visits. Volunteers are always invited to participate in these events, though it’s entirely voluntary.

As part of our commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with HIPAA, we provide all volunteers with a company email address. This ensures secure communication with your volunteer coordinator and fellow team members. You’ll receive your company email once you begin the Relias training.

We are proud to share that Agape Hospice Care was voted the best hospice in Atlanta, and we would love for you to be part of this exceptional team. If you're ready to move forward, please let me know, and I will send you the application and consent forms. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

Thank you again for considering volunteering with us. I look forward to hearing from you!
