About Embrace Abilities:
Embrace Abilities is a Mississippi Gulf Coast nonprofit dedicated to supporting neurodiverse children and teens, ages 3-17, by fostering inclusive social connections, offering family support, and creating enriching experiences. As we close out our first year, we’re seeking a skilled Accountant with expertise in QuickBooks to help review our financial records and ensure we’re ready to file our IRS 990-N form.
Job Summary:
The Volunteer Nonprofit Accountant will assist in reviewing our financial records, maintained using QuickBooks, and confirming compliance with nonprofit financial regulations. With less than $15,000 received in our first year and nearly all transactions documented with supporting materials, this role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact with a manageable workload.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a review and audit of financial records maintained in QuickBooks.
- Confirm readiness for filing the IRS 990-N form.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations and reporting standards.
- Provide recommendations for financial management and improvements moving forward.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Expertise in QuickBooks is required.
- Experience with nonprofit accounting and IRS 990-N filings is a plus.
- Familiarity with bookkeeping practices and small nonprofit operations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
