We have openings for Animal Assisted Therapy Dog and Cat Teams to provide support to our patients in OHSU main hospital, and Doernbecher Chilldren's Hospital. We work with you schedule and allow animal therapy 7 days a week during the morning, afternoon, and evening hours.

If you have been certified by a AAT Certifying Agency, and are looking for a location to visit either weekly or bi-weekly, we definately have opportunities for you. Please reachout directly to wedlake@ohsu.edu for more information.

Description

Healthcare Volunteers provides assistance in the achievement of departmental objectives by effectively utilizing volunteer resources in harmony with the institution’s goals, objectives and mission, ultimately improving the experience of patients, families, and visitors. Volunteers strive to:

  • Serve patients, families, and visitors by spending quality time visiting and assisting them to promote the delivery of outstanding service.
  • Assist staff in order to expedite patient treatment through non-medical services as requested, as well as to achieve greater knowledge in areas of interests leading to competent and skilled volunteers.
  • Assist the unit, clinic, or assignment area to promote a safe and welcoming environment.

  • 2 hours weekly or bi-weekly
  • Must be certified to provide Animal visits (dog or cat) in a hospital setting. Certification rating determines placement. Complexed rating preferred for direct patient visits. Animal veterinary records must be up to date and proof of certification.
