ORGANIZATION: Friends of the Libraries, Kailua-Kona

Our existing Treasurer will be moving off-island in May. So, we are looking for a replacement that has an accounting background.

Duties included:

  • Have a fiduciary duty to assure the Mission of Friends of the Libraries, Kona (F.O.L.K.) is followed.
  • Records cash and checks making banking transactions.
  • Writes checks or makes bill payments from the bank account.
  • Reconciles the bank account and develops monthly reports.
  • Doing necessary financial and tax reporting to the State, FLH or the Federal Government.
  • Work with the Board of Directors and the Libraries to develop an annual budget.
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks is helpful.

Strengthen the Kona and Kealakekua communities by enhancing library services and programs to improve literacy.

Description

We fundraise to support programs, library needs, and to reinforce the importance of reading. These include monthly book sales, membership dues, and other fundraising activities. Reading proficiency in the Kailua Kona public elementary schools is at 40% which is considerably less than 52% Hawaii statewide.
