ORGANIZATION: Friends of the Libraries, Kailua-Kona

Since this is a new position, this Director will be allowed to develop our Volunteer Program. Much of this work can be done from home. Some responsibilities include:

  • Manages volunteer emails.
  • Oversee the completion of volunteer requirements.
  • Orientation for new volunteers.
  • Maintaining volunteer roster on MailChimp.
  • Schedule volunteers for activities and events as requested by the libraries as well as Friends of the Libraries, Kona.

Strengthen the Kona and Kealakekua communities by enhancing library services and programs to improve literacy.

Description

We fundraise to support programs, library needs, and to reinforce the importance of reading. These include monthly book sales, membership dues, and other fundraising activities. Reading proficiency in the Kailua Kona public elementary schools is at 40% which is considerably less than 52% Hawaii statewide.
