Cache and Game Creek Ambassador

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: USDA Forest Service

The Cache Creek/Game Creek Area is a recreational hub of the Jackson community for tourists and locals alike. Starting in and around town, trails access many amazing areas. Beautiful views, wildflowers and wildlife abound. Hiking, mountain biking, trail running, and horseback riding are all popular activities here. There are several main trailheads in the area: Snow King, Cache Creek, Nelson Drive, and Game Creek being the most popular.

We are recruiting a Trail Ambassador on these local "front country" trails, who would work in coordination with district recreation staff to help provide information and education to the public. Due to the popularity and high volume of visitation of these areas, the Jackson Ranger District would like to increase their outreach presence. An ambassador would have an in-person presence to emphasize rules and regulations, keep an eye on facilities, and provide the public with better service. The area is popular for dog walking, so one primary message for the volunteer to share with recreators will be our trailhead leash requirements. Other duties include collecting and communicating information on trails, trailhead conditions, facility conditions, signage, and raising safety concerns with a forest service point of contact or supervisor as appropriate. This is a field-going position, and the volunteer will need to be comfortable hiking front-country trails.

Work Schedule: 3-5 days per week (20-40hrs/wk). An RV/trailer pad may be provided. Start/end dates are somewhat flexible.
