About Us

San Quentin SkunkWorks is unlike any organization you’ve encountered. We are a think tank and innovation lab inside San Quentin State Prison, where incarcerated people collaborate with outside professionals to design cutting-edge solutions to systemic challenges. Through workshops, mentorship, and transformative programs, we foster creativity and leadership that drive meaningful change. Our programs have inspired renowned scholars from leading institutions, White House policymakers, and luminaries from the tech and film industries to engage with our work and support our mission.

The Role

As the Director of Training and Innovation, you will be the bridge between our incarcerated innovators and the world outside. You’ll identify, engage, and recruit the best professionals-experts who can contribute their skills and perspectives to our groundbreaking workshops and collaborative projects. From industry leaders to cultural icons, your role will ensure that SkunkWorks remains a hub of world-class creativity and impact.

What You’ll Do

Outreach & Recruitment: Use your connections to bring top-tier professionals into San Quentin to run workshops, mentor incarcerated innovators, and collaborate on transformative projects.

Relationship Building: Cultivate partnerships with thought leaders, organizations, and institutions that align with SkunkWorks’ mission.

Event Coordination: Help organize and execute impactful workshops and events that inspire incarcerated people and showcase the potential of their work.

Inspire Change: Serve as a champion for SkunkWorks, articulating our mission in ways that attract high-profile collaborators and advocates.
