For patients on hospice care, volunteers play an essential role. Whether they’re simply being present with a patient or helping behind the scenes, volunteers help create trusting bonds and meaningful memories for hospice patients and their loved ones. Just as volunteers are important to hospice patients, hospice patients make service work rewarding for volunteers. Hospice volunteers provide comfort, compassion and care for people as they near the end of life.
Volunteering Opportunities
-Remote Volunteering Opportunities
-Administrative: Support hospice office operations, write birthday cards, call or answer the phone
-Bereavement: Support family members who have lost a loved one, write cards, make phone calls
-Direct Patient Support: Visit and support patients one-on-one, offer companionship
-Veteran Volunteering: Take part in Veteran Pinning Ceremonies and other special opportunities to honor our Veterans
-Professional: Share a special skillset or credential you have with patients and families (Reiki, beautician etc.)
-Pet Therapy: Licensed Pet Therapy Animals needed (Must provide proof of certificates/accreditation)
WE WOULD LOVE TO ADD A FURRY FRIEND TO OUR AMEDISYS VOLUNTEER FAMILY!

As a hospice volunteer you are an important part of our hospice team. You can help improve the quality of life for our patient's, their families, and caregivers. Companionship and socialization are important for the health of our patient’s. Making a difference in someone’s life at end-of-life, is a very wonderful and fulfilling experience. For patients on hospice care, volunteers play an essential role. Whether they’re simply being present with a patient or helping behind the scenes.
Description
Currently looking for volunteers for:
- Companionship/Socialization visits
- Write a Pen Pal Letter
- Making weekly telephone calls
- Veteran to Veteran visits
- Grocery shopping and/or running errands for patient/families
- Provide respite for caregivers while visiting with the patient
- Bereavement volunteer
- Deliver a Birthday gift
Special Projects:
- Crafting and delivering seasonal gifts to patients
- Sending birthday cards
- Create a Life Board
Professional Volunteers, using your talents:
- Massage/Reiki/and other alternative therapies
- Music therapy
- Art therapy
- Hairdresser/Barber
- Pet Therapy
- Videographer, Photographer
